I wonder whether this is pride talking or whether Hatton genuinely believes he could pull it off. It was a pretty ugly end for him in their first encounter (see video at the bottom). Source and full article: BBCRicky Hatton has told Sport Relief he would like a rematch with Floyd Mayweather, despite being well beaten in their first fight last December.
Hatton, 29, suffered a 10th-round knockout in Las Vegas, his first defeat in 44 professional encounters.
"It's a very difficult bitter pill for me to swallow losing my first fight," said light-welterweight king Hatton.
"But I would fight him again, even though he knocked me out - just with a different referee."

As much as I love Ricky Hatton, he was totally outclassed by Mayweather and I can't see him winning a rematch, sadly

I agree.
I really like Hatton. I think he's a great boxer and a wonderful ambassador for the sport - indeed, for British sport generally. But Mayweather was simply too good and as spirited as Hatton clearly is, the gap in class was too great to bridge through a change of tactics.
Having said that, of course, I'm not sure what his other options are. He may be essentially forced to get it on with Mayweather again because of a lack of viable alternatives.
