Being *clears throat* slightly older than most on here, I grew up with the 'first' three - Star Wars (when did this become known as 'A New Hope'?), The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi - and had pretty much lost interest by the time Lucas started finishing the saga. In fact, though I have now seen all six episodes, I would struggle to tell you the titles for the 'last' three without looking them up.
In my view, Star Wars remains the best of the lot. It was grounbreaking from a special effects perspective and the impact of being introduced to those characters for the first time was unique. The obvious example is Darth Vader. His appearance in Star Wars literally sent a shiver down your spine. That could never have been replicated in the sequels.
But that's just my take. What was your favourite episode and why?

Wasn't that the 2nd one (or 5th, if you're a lucky young thing) - The Empire Strikes Back?
