Euro 2008 kicked off this afternoon with a defeat for host nation Switzerland. What are your thoughts about this year's tournament? Are we going to see another unfancied team win it, such as Greece in 2004, or is one of the favourites going to come out on top? Source: BBCSubstitute Vaclav Sverkos gave the Czech Republic a winning start to Euro 2008 with a second-half strike that broke Switzerland's resistance.
Alexander Frei was twice denied by Petr Cech before the Swiss captain was forced off injured and Hakan Yakin headed a chance wide after the break.
On 70 minutes Sverkos slotted in a low volley from 12 yards after latching on to a ball over the top of the defence.
The Swiss were denied an equaliser when Johan Vonlanthen's volley hit the bar.
And it might prove that the width of the woodwork could be the end of the Swiss, with tough matches against Portugal and Turkey to come in Group A.

I'm not sure this year, after all being the first day I don't know who will be coming out with the trophey this year. All I'm hoping for this tournament are some great games and some great goals. Although, I think Portugal are in with a chance (Even though I don't want them to win)

I'm going to place a pretend bet on Croatia as an unfancied contender.
I think they're a good side and will cause a lot of teams problems.
