All media services, which included BBC News 24, Economic Data and the News Aggregator, have been moved to a new board called the 'Media Centre'. This, I hope, is the final stage of the de-cluttering process and offers members and visitors an 'on-demand' service to replace the 'default' service.
By clicking on the link found by pressing the button at the top, users be taken to the Media Centre via a new window. This means they can enjoy uninterrupted feeds whilst browsing and posting in the forum.
I believe these are valuable services and differentiate the News & Current Affairs forum. Hopefully this strikes the right balance between the need to offer something unique and the inconvenience associated with having information thrust at visitors with every page load.
In addition, I understand some users might have been experiencing pop-ups when they load N&CA pages. These appear to be originating form the economic data service provider. Whilst they are harmless, they are annoying. The relocation of these services to the Media Centre won't stop these pop-ups but, because the page will only need to be loaded once, their frequency will be greatly reduced.
Please let me know if you experience any problems with the services, or have any further suggestions for ways to improve the forum.
