This ranks, not only amongst my favourite novels, but surely amongst the best that's ever been written.
I think, given enough time, I could write a book about the book, pointing out how prophetic Orwell's vision was back in 1948 when he wrote it.
Right from the opening chapter (opening scene in the film), which deals with the ritualistic 'two-minutes hate', Orwell shows us how we are controlled through propaganda.
Who is Osama bin Laden, for example, but a modern incarnation of the fiendish Goldstein?
