Firstly, I'd like to thank Steve for creating a sporting section of the Forum. Perhaps we could include sporting news in as well? I've included links in this, so that if you want you can find out more about what I'm talking about. Football I watch and play football. It's probably my favourite sport, no, it's definatly my favourite sport =) I team I support is Arsenal and I play for a local club. My favourite player for Arsenal at the moment is Cesc Fabregas, I just like the way he plays and moves the ball, he has total class. At the moment for my local club I'm playing Left-Back. However, I've played in any defense position and on the left or right midfield. Hockey I'm more of a player of Hockey than a couch potato. In hockey I play simular positions as I play in Football, Defense and Midfield. I have my own stick, Grays is the make. Athletics Athletics could brings up a whole list of things I do. But the main ones are: - Running (Long Distance)
- Discus
- Hurdles
My most favourite out of them all is Long Distance. I don't know what it is about it, but when you see people getting tired and you're carrying on it's really satisfying. ThanksThanks for reading. If there's anything you would suggest adding feel free to post. Jackedited by Steve Gardner to fix link formatting

Pretty varied sporting interests there, Jack.
I'm a bit of a Spurs fan myself. Not what you'd call a real supporter though. I just tend to look out for their results each week and pay more attention to what's going on there than with any other club. As a result, I don't feel any of the rivalry/hostility I know a lot of Spurs fans feel towards Arsenal fans and vice versa.
That said, I would just like to share this with you ;D
Never enjoyed hockey - I kept getting my shins whacked and once got hit in the face by a wayward ball.
I did quite enjoy running but my passion - if it qualifies as a sporting one - was pool. I represented Suffolk for a while and was reasonably accomplished.
As for how the Sport board could develop, it depends on the amount of interest. If there's sufficient volume, for example, we could set up boards for different sporting disciplines. Let's see how things shape up over the next couple of weeks.
Meantime, we could have a competition. No prizes to begin with, just bragging rights. We could run a Challenge Lawro-type competition where the upcoming week's Premiership fixtures are posted and we each submit our score predictions. We could score 1 point for a correct outcome and three points for a perfect score.
The winner each week, er... wins.
I'll leave it to you to decide if you fancy that and, if so, you can run it.

That sounds like a good competition.
Perhaps the winner weekly gets their own forum advertised on the homepage of the forum?

How do you mean 'advertised'?
I have no problem with this in principle - I just want to be clear about what you mean before saying 'yes'. Do you mean place an announcement in the News Fader? Or did you have something else in mind?

Yes. Either just the website name or a link, assuming you can put links in News Faders.

No problem. I don't think you can put links in the News Fader but I did see come code the other day for a scrolling text bar. All dig it out and see if it supports hyperlinks.
In any event, yep, we can advertise the winner's forum (assuming they have one).

Ok.
I'll start the predictions for the next weekend fixtures on Monday because Arsenal play on Monday which counts for this weekend.

Excellent.
I'll promote it on ProBoards and see if we can get a few other participants.

Well I hate football!! I think its all about a bunch of overpaid wimps kicking a ball about. I really find the amount they are paid offensive. I must admit to watching the Euro and World cup though Then again, its every 2 years and tbh its just an excuse for a p*ss up! ;D I love Rugby, now thats a proper game. The guys get stuck in and are thrown all over the place but you never hear a peep out of them, they just get on with it. I also love boxing and MMA, I suppose I like the full contact kinds of sport

I totally agree with your Deelight. I think the way Rugby players act and behave puts some of us footballing Brits' to shame.
You never see players swear at the ref. in Rugby, however it happens pretty much every game in Football.
I love Football for the sports. But for the behaviour of some of the players, it's appauling.

I agree Jack, but the thing is, they are allowed to get away with it. In Rugby if they talk back or swear at the ref they are sent back 5 yards or so, why can't they give a free kick or something to the other side in Football? I'm sure that would stop some of it. If its tolerated, their's no deterrent
