Welcome to the News & Current Affairs ‘Treasure Hunt’, where you’ll hopefully see a little bit about what this site is about beyond news and current affairs, and be in with a chance of winning a real prize in the form of two months ad-free credit for your forum or a forum of your choice.
You do not have to register with the forum to participate, but you will be required to contribute as a Guest.
The winner will be the first person to access the hidden forum, which is password protected, and follow the instructions given there.
Good luck!
The rest of the password is made up of numbers. And this is where you’ll have to be quick, because come around 8:00am in the UK on Monday morning, the numbers you’re looking for will have changed, meaning you won’t be able to complete the treasure hunt.

- To begin with, please visit the Friends of News & Current Affairs board and advertise your forum. If you do not run a forum or don’t wish to advertise one, please leave a comment in the Aliens & UFOs board, which is open to Guests.
Note: only proper on-topic comments will be accepted. - Next, go to the Sport board and look for a recent thread about the transfer of a player to a Premiership team. Make a note of the first letter of the player’s surname. This is the first letter of the password you’ll need to access the hidden forum.
- Then go to the Music forum and look through the threads for a post that includes a song by Warren Zevon. Make a note of the first letter of the song, which will be the second letter of your password.
- While you’re there, watch the Tony Roystor Jnr drum solo and let me know what you think of it by commenting in the Cbox at the foot of the forum.
Note: this is mandatory – if you are first to the treasure but omit this step, you cannot claim your prize - Once you have the first two letters, visit the Flash Games board and find the game described as a…
…strangely addictive yet stress relieving game... how many levels can you survive?
Jot down the first letter of the game. You now have the first three letters of the password.
The rest of the password is made up of numbers. And this is where you’ll have to be quick, because come around 8:00am in the UK on Monday morning, the numbers you’re looking for will have changed, meaning you won’t be able to complete the treasure hunt.
- Visit the Media Centre (you can find this yourself). Find the closing price for the FTSE100 and make a note of it, discarding the decimal point. For example, if the FTSE closed at 1234.5, you write, 12345.
Take these digits and add them to the letters you already have, without spaces. Be sure to use capitals. You should have something like this:ABC12345. - Now simply find the board and enter the password to find out how to claim your prize.
