Some years ago, I was reading about a scientist we should all know much more about, given his achievements - Nikola Tesla.
I won't dwell on his genius here other than to point out that he was responsible for some truly extraordinary work - particularly in the field of electromagnetism - and is associated with a number of conspiracy theories.
Although I don't recall the specifics, one theory involves the development of a method of projecting some sort of beam at an object - whether organic or inorganic - and adjusting the frequency such that the beam excited the target's molecules so much, it was destroyed instantly.
It was rumoured that this technology was acquired by the authorities when Tesla died in 1943 and that it formed the basis of a secret 'weapons' programme, which had the ability to target anywhere in the world through some sort of network of sub-stations.
I will try and find more details of this theory and post it either here or a new thread somewhere else. I only mentioned him in this thread because I was reminded of this theory when the earthquake struck in China recently and again when I came across the video below.
Don't be too quick to dismiss this as fantasy, by the way. There are pretty credible voices airing concerns over HAARP and its potential applictions. Consider this extract from an interesting article at Crystalinks.

In September 1995, a book entitled Angels Don't Play This HAARP: Advances in Tesla Technology by Nick Begich, Jr., son of the late Congressman Nick Begich, claimed that the project in its present stage could be used for "geophysical warfare".

So there are plenty of ingenious minds out there that are at work finding ways in which they can wreak terror upon other nations... It's real, and that's the reason why we have to intensify our efforts."
