I heard a report on Radio Five on the way home that fuel in some parts had hit 1.99 per litre as petrol stations embark on a bit of profiteering following the shortages that have arisen as the result of the Shell driver's dispute.
I also read in The Evening Standard that crude hit record highs near the end of the day and inflation is set to officially pass the 3pc mark - though we all know it's well above that.
All of which makes the CBI's claim this morning that we're going to avoid a recession a bit questionable.
Out of interest, anyone actually seen fuel at the sort of crazy prices reported this morning? The highest I've seen is 1.39 for a litre of diesel.
